Windows 10 is being phased out – what that means for you

As of October 14, 2025, Microsoft will no longer provide updates for windows 10, 8, 7,etc. While you computer will still function, it will not get the needed security updates and patches.
What does this mean for you? Well, if your in the medical industry that means that your computers will need to be updated to to comply with HIPPA or other governmental regulations. This is because you are required to have a version of software that is not at End of life and is being patched / fixed.
At first it might sound simple. Great! Lets just update to windows 11! But wait. there are a few issues that could come up. Does your current equipment work on windows 11. Is there a Windows 11 driver for your Xray scanner, or your optometric equipment? Can your current computers support windows 11?
Here are a few things to consider. While the upgrade process can be rather simple, we have found that windows 11 does require a little more hardware resources then windows 10. This does make sense when you think about it. Windows 10 came out in 2010. Windows 11 came out about 10 year later. So they built windows 10 around hardware of 2010 not 2025.
